Sodding hut

The atmosphere of the pioneers who settled here on the sprung peat is still hanging in the village of Aole Compas. These first inhabitants were not peat cutters but buckwheat farmers. When the attack on Emmense Venen started after 1850, they started to work for the peat bogs, or left to farm elsewhere.
