Taktshang is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery
Taktshang is one of the Tibetan Buddhist monasteries of the mountain state of Bhutan. It has seven temples. The name Taktshang means Tiger Nest. It is built up against the rocks and hangs 700 meters above the Parovallei. It is 3120 meters above sea level.
The monastery can only be reached on foot or possibly by donkey. Different prayer places can be found along the path upwards. There is also a prayer wheel driven by a waterwheel.
