Meteora Monastery in Greece

The Metéora Monasteries in Greece are not out of place on the list of seven world wonders Imposing rock formations as you will encounter them nowhere else, travel from the otherwise fairly flat landscape. On top are the six monasteries of Metéora. After violent centuries, only six monasteries remained in a reasonable state, some of which are still inhabited by monks and monials. Since 1988 they are on the World Heritage List. It has been a lot of effort lately to restore the monasteries to their original glory.
